Young Voices is a new choir for boys and girls aged 7-13. There's an Open Weekend on September 17th-18th 2011, with auditions for new members. To register for an audition, please email music@holytrinityblackley.org.uk, or call Andrew, the choir director, on 0757 6644325. Don't miss your chance!

Singing in a choir is fun, because it's enjoyable to make music with friends. But it's also hard work, and it takes commitment and self-discipline. If you want to be a member of Young Voices, the choir director expects that you will...
- Attend 100%: For a choir to excel, all of its members must be there. You must come to all Tuesday choir practices (6.15pm to 6.45pm) and every performance (roughly one a month).
- Try your hardest: Learning music can be slow and difficult — but the results can be sensational. If you try your hardest, you will enjoy the end result even more.
- Be supported by parents or guardians: You will need encouragement from your mums and dads as your musical abilities grow. It's essential that parents are active in supporting your singing, by attending rehearsals and concerts.
The choir director and Holy Trinity Church also commit to...
- Provide musical training: Members of Young Voices will be taught music-reading, listening skills, vocal technique, and much more. If you paid for private lessons, this training would cost up to £500 a year. But members of Young Voices will receive it free of charge.
- Offer opportunities to perform: Young Voices will perform in recitals, assemblies and special church services. Performing in a group is a great way of giving youngsters more self-confidence, and a chance to set boundaries for children who are already confident enough!
- Secure children's welfare: Holy Trinity Church has ratified a Child Protection Policy. You can rest assured that all rehearsals and performances will be supervised by at least two adults; parents are also welcome to sit-in on all rehearsals and performances.

Andrew is 26 years old and has been the organist and choirmaster at Holy Trinity since 2002. He began learning music at age seven, when he was accepted as a singer at one of the large city-centre churches in Leicester. As an eleven-year-old he performed in front of HM The Queen and sang a live solo on BBC One. He also passed all the Royal School of Church Music singing awards, and went on to sing as a young adult in Leicester Cathedral Choir. When he moved to Manchester he began learning the organ and directing the choir at Holy Trinity. Since then he has gained the DipABRSM diploma in Organ Performance. In 2009, he took a year off and worked as Organ Scholar at St Paul's Cathedral in New Zealand.
